Washington, D.C. grind-metal heavyweights formed in 1997 from members of Treblinka, A.C., and Agoraphobic Nosebleed. Following the release of various split seven-inch records with the likes of Orchid and Isis, their debut album, EXPLOSION IN WARD 6, was released in 1998. Signing to metal label Relapse Records in 2000, Pig Destroyer released a string of acclaimed albums, including PROWLER IN THE YARD (2001), TERRIFYER (2004), and PHANTOM LIMB (2007). Their intense sound mixes gravel-swallowed vocals WITH pummeling guitarwork and intense machine-gun drumming with audio clips and spoken word. The band constantly pushes the edges of punk and metal both with its extreme sound and its graphic, disturbing lyrics.
