Artist Biography
In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail.
11th grade.
I had been saving for a guitar for months, and when I FINALLY had enough to buy it, I went into the store and it was gone.
I was devastated.
Turns out, my dad knew I was saving and secretly bought it for me.
I still play that guitar. What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular?
Jars of Clay, Jars of Clay
John Mayer, Continuum
These records speak to me.
The music, the lyrics, the melodies, the musicianship.
All three of them have shaped who I am as a songwriter and a person.
Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song.
“Things That I'm Afraid Of (feat. Tasha Layton)”
This song sums up my struggle with anxiety and depression.
It's not been an easy road, but I've never been alone.
Also, I can't believe Tasha Layton sang on this track.
She's got an incredible voice, and I'm honored that she joined me.
What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far?
Playing guitar and singing on stage with Stephen Curtis Chapman.
He's been a hero of mine for a long time, and I've been able to tour with him twice.
Bucket list stuff, for sure. Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band?
Someday I'd like to collaborate with Phil Keaggy.
