Although Black Tambourine were only together for a brief period, they're one of the defining bands of the early-'90s American twee pop scene. Led by singer Pam Berry (who sang in seemingly every band in her native Washington, D.C. during this era, most notably the Shapiros and Glo-Worm) and guitarist Archie Moore, who was also in the much more widely known Velocity Girl, Black Tambourine were only together long enough to release a pair of singles, "By Tomorrow" and the Pastels tribute "Throw Aggi Off the Bridge," in 1991 and 1992. The comprehensive anthology Complete Recordings was released in 2002. ~ Charity Stafford
