About Charlie Hilton
Artist Biography
Best known as the frontwoman of the dreamy Portland act Blouse, Charlie Hilton grew up in a bohemian Los Angeles family. She began playing guitar and writing songs as a teen, and formed Blouse with Patrick Adams and Jacob Portrait (also of Unknown Mortal Orchestra) in 2010. Soon after Blouse's second album, Imperium, was released in 2013, she began writing songs for her solo career. Working with Mac DeMarco, Woods' Jarvis Taveniere, and Yeasayer's Anand Wilder, she recorded the song "100 Million" in a Brooklyn studio. For the rest of her 2016 debut album, Palana, she collaborated with Portrait, whose eclectic production work helped her channel inspirations as diverse as Nico, Mazzy Star, and Marc Bolan. ~ Heather Phares
