Rapper JayO Sama made a big noise in the South Florida scene with his 2016 breakthrough “Intro.” But he was killed in 2019 before he could realize his full potential.
• Despite a string of legal troubles, JayO consistently rapped and made beats in high school.
• JayO broke through in 2016 with “Intro,” a harrowing song about life on the streets. The music video has amassed more than 2 million views.
• He displays a softer side of himself on the pensive 2018 single “You Sleep,” which pays tribute to more than two-dozen friends he’d lost throughout his life.
• The rising rapper was killed January 27, 2019, near West Palm Beach. He was 22 years old.
• His estate has kept his memory alive with posthumous projects like 2019’s Fly High.
