Glistening beats, feel-good vibes, and sincere emotions permeate the indie-folk/pop sound of South African musician Majozi. Born Nhlanhla Majozi in Durban in 1987, Majozi first picked up a guitar and taught himself how to play at the age of 13. Deeply rooted in his Christian faith, Majozi first started out in a Christian punk band as a teenager, and would later join multiple underground hardcore groups. In 2013, Majozi rose to prominence when his EP Marvellous Light became a nationwide hit, and followed the release up with the beamy, poppy records Mountains (2015) and Fire (2016). His 2021 EPs, the gospel-tinged I Will Call Your Name and You Are Loved, demonstrate his depth and uniqueness of his art.
