About Rubber Duc
In the artist’s words:
Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail.
We were just starting out when we got the call to open for Milky Chance in Durban, South Africa. We had a song on the radio, we were young, and walking onto that stage felt like the whole world had suddenly opened up. We still talk about that night.
What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular?
Beatenberg, The Hanging Gardens Of Beatenberg
Bon Iver, 22, A Million
Sam Fender, Seventeen Going Under (Deluxe)
We live in a van on tour, and these never left the stereo. Seventeen Going Under floored us, and we wore out a DVD of Bon Iver's NPR show, mostly 22, A Million. The Hanging Gardens of Beatenberg might be the best South African album ever made.
Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song.
“First to Leave”
What love comes without turbulence? First to Leave is about holding on through the hard parts and promising you won't be the one who walks away. I'll go if that's what you want, but I'll never be the first to leave.
What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far?
Building Aweh! Fest in Dubai, a festival that brings South African music to expats missing home and to people from all over the world hearing it for the first time. That, and our first radio number one. You never forget your first.
Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band?
Who wouldn't want to play Red Rocks? Or tour North America, or have a song take off around the world? There's still so much we want to do, and honestly, it feels like we're only getting started.
