While fans always long for a peek into the personal lives of the stars they love, S Club’s followers got a special view of life behind the scenes—or at least a cheeky fictionalized version of it. Originally known as S Club 7 when they debuted in 1998, the London-based group consisted of seven singers who were recruited by Simon Fuller, the music and TV producer behind Spice Girls and the international Idol franchise. They swiftly shot to fame in the UK thanks to a string of perky dance-pop hits like 1999’s “Bring It All Back” and their starring roles in Miami 7 a.k.a. S Club 7 In Miami, a teen sitcom in which the members played characters based loosely on themselves. After the departure of singer Paul Cattermole in 2002, the remaining six continued as S Club, but the group disbanded not long after the release of their fourth album, Seeing Double, and the accompanying movie. In 2014, the original seven launched a successful reunion, making good on their youthful claim that there ain’t no party like an S Club party.
Influenced by S ClubS Club has influenced the music of Aram Fabian, fleur et bleue, Chipz and more.
