About Gentleman
Gentleman is a German reggae singer who has carved out a unique distinction within the genre as one of its most authentic non-Jamaican artists. For the most part, he sings in German and Jamaican patois and favors a positive, socially-conscious style that has endeared him to global reggae fans. He released his first album in 1999, but it was 2004's Confidence that became his first German chart-topper, a feat he repeated six years later with his major-label debut, Diversity. In the 2010s, Gentleman continued to build his international fan base, releasing an MTV Unplugged live album and a highly regarded 2016 collaborative album with Ky-Mani Marley. He switched to his native German language for 2020's introspective Blaue Stunde, then took resumed a more global outlook on 2022's Mad World. Returning after a hiatus, Gentleman issued the poignant and personal Gratitude in 2026.
