South Florida rapper Teejay3k rose from the streets of Pompano Beach with honest lyrics and a crooning delivery all his own.
• With his parents divorced and his father in and out of prison, Teejay initially focused on football. Then his father brought him to a recording studio, and the thought of being a rapper entered his headspace.
• The rapper broke through locally with the 2014 single “Paper Soldiers,” featuring Kodak Black.
• Veteran Sacramento rapper Mozzy took Teejay under his wing and gave him his first major placement on the 2018 track “Bands On Me,” which also features Blac Youngsta and A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie.
• Teejay’s life changed in 2018, when he was the target of a shooting. The close encounter inspired his 2019 album Soul Searchin, which features Quando Rondo, Mozzy, and Lil Poppa.
