About The Bad Ends
The Bad Ends can be called an Athens, Georgia supergroup because it features two local legends: R.E.M. drummer Bill Berry and Mike Mantione, the leader of the Five Eight. On a global scale, Berry's fame eclipsed Mantione's by a considerable degree yet the latter kept the flame of jangle pop burning through the 1990s and beyond, making him a linchpin of Athens. Berry returned to the Athens area after retiring from R.E.M. in 1997 but he stayed away from music until a chance encounter with Mantione led to the pair forming the Bad Ends in 2017. The group released their first album, The Power and the Glory, in January 2023.
