Artist Biography
Since finding fame with the pop-punk trio blink-182, energetic drummer Travis Barker has built a multifaceted career with sidelines in hip-hop, pop, and other sounds.
• Barker received his first drum set at the age of four. He played in his high school’s jazz ensemble and marching band and toured with the punk group Feeble during his senior year.
• Billed as “The Baron von Tito,” Barker drummed with SoCal ska-punks The Aquabats from 1996 to 1998, when he left to join blink-182.
• Barker’s prodigious drumming helped to make blink-182 superstars. The group’s 1999 album Enema of the State cracked the Top 10 of the Billboard 200, while the 2001 follow-up Take Off Your Pants and Jacket reached No. 1.
• From 2002 to 2017, Barker played on three albums and one EP with his side project The Transplants, a punk supergroup featuring Tim Armstrong of Rancid.
• In 2008, Barker and friend Adam Goldstein, aka DJ AM, formed the drum-and-turntable duo TRV$DJAM. The pair were involved in a September 2008 Learjet crash that left Barker burned on 65% of his body. DJ AM died of a drug overdose the following year.
• Barker’s interest in hip-hop has led him to work with artists like Yelawolf, Machine Gun Kelly, 03 Greedo, XXXTentacion, and Suicideboys.
• As a solo artist—albeit one with many famous collaborators—Barker notched a Top 10 hit with his 2011 solo debut album, Give the Drummer Some.
