Drawing from a deep family history in the church, singer and pastor William Murphy updates traditional gospel music with Contemporary Christian and R&B influences. ∙ His breakout song, “Praise Is What I Do,” was first recorded by Shekinah Glory Ministry on their Gold-certified album of the same name before appearing on Murphy’s 2005 debut, All Day. ∙ In 2006, he founded the dReam Center Church of Atlanta, where Grammy-winning gospel star Tasha Cobbs Leonard once served as a worship leader. ∙ The 2013 live LP God Chaser was his first of three releases in a row to receive a Grammy nomination for Best Gospel Album. ∙ Radio smash “Everlasting God,” which featured Bishop James Morton, drove 2016’s Demonstrate to No. 1 on Billboard’s Top Gospel Albums chart. ∙ Settle Here racked up nominations at the Dove Awards and Stellar Awards, including a Song of the Year nod for the title track, which also was a Billboard Hot Gospel Songs Top 10 hit.
