In the artist’s words:
Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. I remember listening as a kid to Counting Crows' August and Everything After on my Walkman in the car. The guitar intro to Round Here sends me back to that dry Southern landscape, open roads, and the young desire to one day be an artist myself.
What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Bon Iver, For Emma, Forever Ago Bonny Light Horseman, Bonny Light Horseman (feat. Eric D. Johnson, Josh Kaufman, & Anais Mitchell) Counting Crows, August and Everything After The harmonies, arrangements, and production of Bonny Light Horseman speak to everything I love about music today. Counting Crows were influential to me as a young creative. Bon Iver is a brilliant artist and songwriter with innovative soundscapes.
Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “Major Tom” A single from my debut album, Major Tom is an obvious reference to Bowie, but the song is more than that—it offers a sense of grounding (even in space) and the calm that comes with letting go. The song continues to feel relevant to me even now.
What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? My favorite moments are on stage, and some of my favorite stages have been that of the Kennedy Center, New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, Americanafest, Mile of Music, and all the small clubs where audiences truly revel in the words and music.
Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? I try to remember that it's about the journey, not the destination. It's human nature to want to check off boxes—and believe me I do—but all the moments between are where the real joy and magic live. That said, I wouldn't mind a trip to Newport Folk.
