In the artist’s words:
Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. I'll never forget recording my first full-length album under the name Kelcy Mae in 2007—it was the start to a musical journey now continued under the name Ever More Nest. Those early years helped me define the person I am and what I want to create.
What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Caroline Spence, Spades & Roses Ever More Nest, Out Here Now Ever More Nest, The Place That You Call Home The early days of playing under Kelcy Mae led to what would become Ever More Nest, my current Americana music project. These two albums are what I'm most proud of as an artist. Caroline Spence's record is gorgeous and set me on the path toward EMN.
Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “Bright Eyes” This is one of my favorite songs released under the name Kelcy Mae. It's an imagist poem in some ways—images of love lost, a goodbye. I love how it starts small and builds into a expansive outro complete with emotive horns and strings.
What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? It was scary in 2017 to let go of Kelcy Mae and to forge a new creative path as alt-country artist Ever More Nest. I'm proud of these albums and will cherish where these songs have taken me—from New Orleans to national tours to international ears.
Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? I think it's every Americana artist's dream to harmonize with Emmylou Harris, Alison Krauss, Dolly Parton, and Gillian Welch. Maybe Ever More Nest will one day make their radars. To sing with my heroes would be sincerely fulfilling.
