Caught in the gleam of the city lights

Sunsets and riversides

I've been trying to forget the way you caught my eye

Like a flame that’s never gonna die

Calling me back through December skies

To campfires and state lines

Sometimes it feels like you were never mine

Like a ghost in the summertime

Looking back I don’t regret it

But sometimes I wish I could forget it

Caught in the rain on that summer night

Your laughter had me so high

Sometimes it’s easy to forget the lies

And the words that hurt me deep inside

Driving alone down these city roads

By the place we used to call home

Part of me still fights to let it go

But we both know it’s over now

Looking back I don’t regret it

But sometimes I wish I could forget it

All those days we spent together

I could have lived like that forever
