Dream Job

Fifteen hours of rain and fog

Hugging that centre line

Sipping service station coffee

Broken wiper keeping time

I can’t check into the hotel

For at least an hour or two

But I’ve got this dream job doing

Maybe I’ll find a laundromat

Or nap some in the car

Suppose I should take better care of myself

Buy I’ve dodged a cold this far

I’ll drop by the club early

To see if their piano’s in tune

I feel good about how they’ve taken shape

Might even try one out tonight and see how it goes down

Agent called this morning

Chance I’ll get a few weeks more

Might have to wire home some money

The rent’s long overdue
