I looked out my window this mornin' but I didn't see nothin'

The weather man said it would change but he must a been bluffin'

Breathin' gets harder every day

I gotta keep runnin' away

I wrote a letter to the President

He said "keep on smiling"

The kids down the block gave up playin' for slumber

I hung out a sign on my door gonna wait for the summer

The sky gets darker every day

The wind won't blow it away

I wrote a letter to the Governor

The rain started fallin' but it stopped ion a cloud hangin' over my head

It must have been mental confusion or an illusion of death

I wrote a letter to my Congressman

He said "keep on smiling"

So, I tried smiling

Hoping my troubles would go away

But I still couldn't see the suns beautiful golden rays
