Too Many to Count

When the heat of the summer finally breaks,

And at long last I get that first chill

I shiver and shake, and quiver with such a great

Excitement that I can’t sit still

When the leaves begin their annual tumble-and-fall,

Crinkling beneath every step

My coat collar gets popped, and with a skip and a hop,

I feel I’m ready for whatever’s next!

I simply shed all sorrow

At the scent of sugar and spice,

For how can I feel hapless

When I’m bundled up so nice?

Truly I couldn’t ask for more,

When my loved ones start hanging around

And when I think of the blessings I’m grateful for,

I find there’s just too many to count!
