I let go of the outcome, and stay focused on the process

When the mind wanders, skips and drifts

Gotta reel it in, pull it back unstick

From the surface, realign it with my purpose

Take time to refine it, just like editing these verses

Cuz all these distractions, just cause reactions

Contractions, mind fractured, pulled apart by these passions

Disturbed by the unreal, everything imagined

Pressure adding up, in the form of attachments

Gotta soften the grip, slipping out of my own clutches

Unclinch the fist quick, proceed toward the Beloved

Practicing surrender, steady the mind with

Endless layers of prayers, the main assignment

Take the mind, refocus and realign it

Deep breath to rinse, polish, shinning this diamond

Spinning everything into an offering

Place it on the alter and it starts altering

The path we travel's not made of gravel

Dust, dirt, rock, concrete or even asphalt

It’s more subtle, traveling through subtle tunnels

Away from the external surface world of the ego

Ten thousand candles, lit from one wick

Raise the lantern quick, traveling through the labyrinth

Navigating through the folds of fabric

Escape the erratic, moving back toward the ecstatic

Ecstasy, exit toward the sea

Shake off the shackles of the shadow trying to tackle me

Feel the chain, sliding off my brain

Pressure drops like rain, feel it spiral down the drain

Freedom is a feeling when the ceiling is open

When the mind wanders bring it back again and again
