Release the guilt you hold dear

For holding onto what could not have been saved

You didn't give it your all

But you whole-heartedly wanted to

And that's at least worth something

Your heart is full with fault & mistrust

& so it aches and brews a poison

engraving knots & spilling out your veins

Dispel the blade, I was waiting for you in the wrong

I write to say that I made mistakes

& I know that they are real

We can't take back all we destroyed

And all that we left, it was real

I know compassion as sinking into apathy

So: misguided & afraid
