In Devonian seas, where the unknown shines?

For fish, the land was but a distant thought

But something stirred, adventure they sought

What clicked in their minds, what drove them ashore?

Why leave the oceans they once adored?

The tides are shifting, to and fro

Conditions here aren’t the best, you know

Why stay in the sea, where things are so grim?

It’s time to move on, let’s grow some limbs

So declared a lobe-finned fish, so bold

Raising her fin, a future to unfold

We had it good in the watery deep

But the time has come, no more to keep

Nothing’s left for us here anymore

We’re heading out, let’s explore the shore!

Our distant kin may struggle for breath

But we’ve got lungs and gills, no fear of death

We’ll breathe in the freedom, stand tall and proud

In forests and valleys, where life is allowed

Adaptation is the trend of the day

To forge ahead, there’s no other way

The sun will bronze us, the stars will guide

No more to linger, no more to hide

There’s nothing left for us here to find

How do we build when we’re butterfingers at hand?
