Early in the morning just before the break of day
Trapped in a palace of dreams yet feeling half awake
I cant get up yet and Im not ready to get it underway
When the morning song comes crying in with thoughts of you today
When the fact remains that we're all weary eyed
People are the same in these weary times
Inside I cry though my eyes are dry
Looking back to a simpler time
Across the great divide
Across the great divide
There's a battle for consciousness pushing all other thoughts aside
Can there be a world of unity while we're focused on this great divide
When did fact become opinion when did opinion become fact
Check your footing it's a slippery slope
And we can't take those steps back
When the fact remains that we're all weary eyed
People are the same in these weary times
Inside I cry though my eyes are dry
Looking back to a simpler time
Across the great divide
Across the great divide
No need to rush just to take a side
All your facts might be someone else's lies
Compassion in your work will surely clear your mind
Don't be afraid to do what right
Don't be afraid to do what's right
Across the great divide
A house on sand will wash away
A house of glass will surely break
Its going to take all of these rushing waters
Just to clean all these stains away
When the fact remains that we're all weary eyed
People are the same in these weary times
Inside I cry though my eyes are dry
Looking back to a simpler time
Across the great divide
Across the great divide
