I've Always Been A Rambler
The Po' Ramblin' Boys

APRS BMI
Ive always been a rambler my fortune's been quite hard.
I've always loved the women, drank whiskey and played cards.
My parents were so kind to me, they had no boy but me.
My mind has been on Ramblin, with home I couldn't agree.
There was a wealthy farmer who lived in the countryside.
He had a handsome daughter on whom I cast my eye.
She was so tall and handsome, so pretty and so fair.
There ain't one girl in the whole wild world with her I could compare.
So, I left ol' North Carolina, to Marion l did go.
Went on to Johnson City, gonna see this wild world o’er.
Where work and money were plentiful and the women treated me kind.
Still the object of my heart was the girl I Left behind.
I rambled out one evening down by there public square.
The mail had just arrived, the postman met me there.
He handed me a letter that let me understand
The girl left in North Caroline had married another man.
I read a few lines farther to see if it was true.
My Heart was filled with trouble, I didn't know what to do.
My heart was filled with trouble and trouble on my mind.
Im gonna drink and gamble for the girl l left behind.
