Don’t soothe me now as I hide.

Sunlight creeps through this cage where I wake,

But I fear it’s cold outside.

My hands are ripping

Through the curtains,

For the glimpse of the horizon,

But my senses heighten,

My chest tightens,

And I just give in to the silence.

But I don't want to live through the windows.

Screaming at a door

That remains closed.

Because I look outside and

My eyes are wide.

I want to run away,

Escape this cage,

I built these bars,

But I shake them hard

And run until my bones break.
