I must have had some kind of daydream last night

A few meters high and it all looked all right

A whole lot of people was having a ball

And first I got angry 'cause I knew them all

I wasn't invited, now how could that be?

How come nobody told me?

It all looked like some kind of fancy fair

All of a sudden I knew I was there

Right in the middle, now how could that be?

How come no one ever told me?

Didn't you ever see the rainbow shining on itself?

Or did you ever hear it sing a song about where its colors end?

Now let me tell you I am the rainbow shining on myself

And when I come down I find myself in a great big pot with gold

I guess they had something to celebrate

But no one was able to tell me that day

Somebody someday, now who could it be?

And all of a sudden I knew it was me

They all talked about me, my goods and my bads

As if they thought I was dead

Now didn't you ever see the rainbow shining on itself?

Or did you ever hear it sing a song about where its colors end?

Now let me tell you I am the rainbow shining on myself

But I never come down to find myself in a great big pot with gold

In a great big pot with gold
