Beneath these aging flesh and bones
I feel the tension rise
Close to the boiling point
The pressure's on
A constant weight is lingering on my shoulders
A tidal wave is crushing down on me
Head under water, I desperately try
To fight the forces dragging me to unknown depths
"You're never good enough" these echoes scream at me
Unwrapping shells of confidence, cracking through my shield
But while "anything may go" and "nothing's out of reach"
This won't be the key to fill the emptiness lingering in me

This constant overflow numbs my sense of self
Drowning in the wealth of possibilities
Turning a blind eye on visions I once chased
Grasping for the shadows of that ghost
Just to lose my balance and kiss the ground
But beyond clouds of smoke
And the cracks under my feet
I've learned to overcome this fear of calamity
Clinging onto certainties is no saviour from misery
I've come to know that resilience will be stronger
So tame the noise surrounding me
Without killing my curiosity
Overflow me with purity
Touch my soul and set me free
