standing alone

giving them just what they wanted

i’m seeing new shades of grey

and i’ll let it fall to the ground

you told me not to worry, you won’t let them take my agency away

but i still feel the traces of his hands upon my skin

why do i try?

i don’t mean anything to you, just someone they can admire

i won’t take another lie

you talk to me like i don’t understand the things about this life

humour my words

to you my input doesn’t matter

you tell my mum it’s okay

and say it’s other men who don’t care

another conversation ask my friends if i should complain

and i find myself surrounded in the comfort of a new day

why do i try?

i don’t mean anything to you, just someone they can admire

i won’t take another lie

you talk to me like i don’t understand the things about this life
