Swedish DJ and producer AronChupa makes upbeat dance tunes that mix hardstyle swing beats with cartoonish attitude. Many feature his little sister on vocals.
• Before becoming a full-time music producer, Ekberg studied advertising at San Francisco’s Academy of Art University, where he also played on the soccer team.
• In 2012, he performed in an electro group called Albatraoz whose song by the same name stayed on the Swedish charts for 19 weeks.
• He kept with the albatross theme on his 2014 debut solo single, “I’m an Albatraoz.” The strange, bouncy track became an international hit, charting in more than a dozen countries, including the US, where it reached the Top 10 on Billboard’s Hot Dance/Electronic Songs chart.
• “I’m an Albatraoz” features uncredited vocals from his sister, known as Little Sis Nora. She’s become a regular on his tunes and in his music videos, which Ekbeg writes and directs himself.
