In the artist’s words:
Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. (Joy) I remember being frustrated with the violin as my first instrument, because I thought all musicians were composers and violin doesn't lend itself well to songwriting. (Elai) I remember hearing Bohemian Rhapsody on the radio and being inspired.
What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Green Day, American Idiot The Weakerthans, Reconstruction Site twenty one pilots, Regional At Best We find these albums lyrically and aesthetically compelling and have several core memories centered around them. We go to these for comfort and inspiration.
Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “Calm Down (Live in Studio)” This is the first song we wrote collaboratively and serves as our artist thesis statement. It is the impetus of all things Brain Weasels.
What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? (Elai) I had an experience busking somewhere I didn't have permission to, nearly got escorted out by security, but happened to be playing underneath the person-in-charge's window, who liked it so much they told me I could stay and offered me a gig.
Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? (Joy) Above all we want to tour. We want to see more of the country we call home, maybe even leave it someday, and make connections with listeners and other artists.
