Darshan Raval is responsible for some of the most soulful pop music to have come out of India since the latter half of the 2010s. Born in Ahmedabad in 1994 and a former India’s Raw Star contestant, Raval earned a major breakthrough when he appeared on the soundtrack of 2015 Salman Khan romance Prem Ratan Dhan Payo. He has since developed an impressive discography that has been well received not just locally but across the globe. The popularity of tracks like “Teri Aankhon Mein”, “Mehrama”, “Judaiyaan” and “Is Qadar”—which bring a fresh take to a melange of genres and prove his magnetic ability to express emotion in Hindi, Gujarati and Telugu—have cemented his appeal. He’s also garnered support from celebrated music directors such as Himesh Reshammiya. With an indelible mark already made on his legions of fans, Raval is an instantly recognisable and unique talent.
