The late Chicago rapper FBG Duck will forever be remembered for “Slide,” one of the city’s most memorable drill anthems.
• When he was 17, Duck joined forces with his friends to create the rap crew FBG (“Fly Boy Gang”). A true drill pioneer, he began releasing music in 2012, just as the scene was being born.
• In 2018, Duck released his breakout single, “Slide.” Though it only took 40 minutes to make, the riotous track became an instant classic. Pitchfork selected “Slide” as one of 11 songs that define Chicago drill.
• The single’s performance earned Duck a deal with the RECORDS division of Sony Music Entertainment, under which he released his final project, Big Clout, in 2018.
• In August 2020, Duck was killed in what has been described as a targeted drive-by shooting while shopping in Chicago’s Gold Coast district.
