Putting to rest the notion that only electronic dance music, chill, and reggaeton can come from the Balearic Islands, Puñal is a virulent hardcore band from Palma de Mallorca -- in truth, even if unknown to most international tourists, the island has been home to a vibrant punk community since the mid-'80s. Contemporary flag carriers of the nihilist, anti-social message of Spanish punk icons such as Eskorbuto and Cicatriz, and inspired as well by the frantic UK82 and Southern California scenes, Puñal entered the fray in 2018 with the demo Huye de Nosotros. The group went on a prolonged hiatus after the death of their drummer, resurfacing seven years later with renewed venom and their official debut full-length, 2025's Buscando La Muerte.
