Miguel Bosé is one of the most versatile and enduring artists in Ibero-American pop. Boasting a discography spanning dozens of albums, chart-topping singles, films, and collaborations, Bosé’s singular baritone is easily one of the most recognizable in the Spanish language. The Panama-born artist of Spanish-Italian descent found his way into music at the age of 21, backed by the legendary Spanish troubadour Camilo Sesto, who produced his early singles like “Soy” (1975) and “Es Tan Fácil” (1976). It was the release of his 1984 synth-pop classic “Amante Bandido” under the CBS label that would propel his career to interstellar heights, making him a household name on both sides of the Atlantic. After the success of the single, Bosé would switch to WEA, where he displayed the more eclectic and omnivorous style that’s come to characterize his work, yielding classics like “Bambú” (1990) and the slow jam “Si Tú No Vuelves” (1993). By the turn of the millennium, Bosé matured into the version of himself perhaps most known today, putting out some of his most memorable songs like “Morena mía” (2001), which he would famously reinterpret in his now-classic collab album Papito (2007) alongside Julieta Venegas. Indeed, it is in this latter period that the impact of his legacy became all the more evident, with some of the most talented artists in Latin America paying tribute to his work, as in his 2016 acoustic effort, MTV Unplugged, which features appearances by the likes of Marco Antonio Solis, Juanes, and Ximena Sariñana.
