Berlin's Steffen Berkhahn, best known as Dixon, has made a major impact on the global dance music scene through his adventurous DJ sets as well as his renowned Innervisions label. While minimal techno dominated dancefloors during the 2000s, he helped shift the balance back toward house music, incorporating vocals and a dramatic sensibility within a techno framework. Though he's released a few innovative mix CDs, particularly 2009's The Grandfather Paradox and 2011's Live at Robert Johnson Volume 8, he's gained his reputation mainly due to his DJ gigs, exhibiting his mastery of track selection as well as pacing and flow, and has become a frequent, in-demand presence at major clubs and festivals throughout the world. As a producer, he is known for remixes, edits, and collaborations rather than solo compositions; he frequently makes fine-tuned edits of tracks specifically for usage in his own sets, and has crafted well-received mixes of songs by Disclosure, LCD Soundsystem, Depeche Mode, and numerous others.
