This French heavy metal band was formerly known as Blood Wave. Sortilege were formed in 1981 by vocalist Christian Augustin and guitarist Stephanne L’Anguille Dumont. Adding Didier Dem (guitar), Daniel Lapp (bass) and Bob Snake (drums) they secured a contract with the Dutch Rave On label in 1983. They specialized in a persistent metallic boogie. Metamorphose was also released as Metamorphosis, complete with English lyrics, but it still failed to make any impact outside France. Hero Tears saw the band running short of ideas. They broke up shortly after its release.
