Born in 2000 in Chennai, singer-songwriter and playback artist Sublahshini has emerged as one of Tamil cinema’s freshest voices, combining a distinctive tone with bold pop energy. Initially insecure about her vocal gifts, she honed her craft through a Tamil singing contest in 2020, which led to a collaboration with producer Nucleya—a turning point that prompted her to leave her day job in human resources and pursue music full-time.
In 2021, Sublahshini she made her independent debut with the single “Kaathadi”, created alongside producer and singer-songwriter Anand Kashinath, which quickly became a hit. Later tracks consolidated her status as an indie fusion and pop artist. Her playback breakthrough came with “Golden Sparrow” from Nilavuku En Mel Ennadi Kobam (sung alongside G. V. Prakash Kumar, Dhanush and Arivu) before “Kissik” from Pushpa 2: The Rule (with composer Devi Sri Prasad) propelled her to national recognition in 2024.
In 2025, the explosive “Monica” from Coolie (with composer Anirudh Ravichander and rapper Asal Kolaar), which she recorded in multiple languages, further expanded her reach. Sublahshini represents a new generation redefining Tamil pop with soul, grit and wide-ranging cultural appeal.
