Über Uncle Waffles
South Africa-based DJ Lungelihle Zwane (aka Uncle Waffles) became an early figurehead of the amapiano genre, which mixes elements of deep house, jazz, vocals, and percussion. Honing her skills in her home of Eswatini, Swaziland, there were more opportunities for shows in South Africa so she eventually moved there permanently. Her status within the amapiano scene skyrocketed after a clip of her performing went viral. Her debut EP, Red Room Dragon, arrived in 2022.
