Sometime not long ago in a place not far from here
A boy set out to prove he was a man that should be feared
He rode for many miles through wind and pain and shit
Tenacity he had that much was clear
With certainty and courage in his saddle he rode tall
He knew what lay ahead he'd win the day he'd take 'em all
When he reached his destination the man before him spit and told him
Most of our recruits ain't so damn small
My name is Chester Sullivan and I'm fifteen years of age
I'm speedy with my hands and with my steed
I mean you no offense I do consider you a sage
And I think that I'm exactly what you need
The figure cocked its head and spit again at Chester's feet
And told him Go back home you must be missin' mama's teet
Then it turned and struck a flame a cigarette was lit
One shot would end the smoke their eyes would meet
Someday I'll be a Ranger just like you
Blaze trails for glory with the chosen few
My irons will spit lead 'til injustice bleeds red
And I swear upon my name my word is true
Nearby there was a bandit king with thirteen of his best
He was wanted by The Rangers for some horses he possessed
A price upon his head the bandit didn't give a damn
This next bit surely Sapo tells the best
The brute's name was Vidal he rode a stallion dark as pitch
The bandit had such speed some say his steed it was bewitched
Well on one fateful night my boys while from the law he ran
Some Rangers cornered him into a ditch
Around him lay the mutilated bodies of his men
He fought the growing fear that he might never ride again
The blood dripped down his head from where a rifle butt had slammed
Defiant he looked up and said to them
I Vidal bestow a curse on you
You'll not forget the pain from what you do
Be haunted with dread for the ones you've left dead
And I swear upon my name my word is true
The Rangers laughed and fired one more shot into the man
They draped the corpse upon its steed and took it home as planned
They bred a wicked thought that would strike fear in evil hearts
And at their journey's end the boy did stand
As mounted shadows neared him he saw them trade a glance
Around him rose up clouds of dust where horses reared and danced
A terror overcame him when he saw their work of art
Then they looked down and told him Here's your chance
Send a message use this saw
Tie it to the pommel through his filthy rotting maw
Come on kid! Rip off the bastard's head
You swore upon your name your word was true
Someday I'll be a Ranger just like you
Blaze trails for glory with the chosen few
My irons will spit lead 'til injustice bleeds red
And I swear upon my name that
I Vidal bestow a curse on you
You'll not forget the pain from what you do
Be haunted with dread for the ones you've left dead
And I swear upon my name my word is true
