I am a winter crow, shining black, standing in the blue-white snow

And I don't fly in a straight line more like a drunkard when they've finished their jug wine

And I'm not wise, nor am I kind

I see how you treat your fellow man. He and I pick from a dirty garbage can

Crying and unshaven, he and I are both looking for safe haven

And I don't shout, I'm not a raven

On the solstice eve, I fly circles, broken and bereaved

While I watch you celebrate, my heart is joyless ever since I lost my mate

Darkness growing bold. Fires burning, the wind is blowing cold

Through this longest night, while you're tucked in, covers pulled up tight

I'll be the first to see the light
