Listen, think about death
I'd be lying if I said I didn't, a lot
I feel like we all think about it, most of us
It's what happens after, I don't know
How you'll be remembered, if you'll be remembered
Who will care, if they care
Most won't, probably not
If you leave a legacy
If you leave anything
What will they say?
I wonder what they'll say when I pass away
If friends in first grade remember the grass we played
During recess, barely lost our teeth yet
We're not here forever, something you come to peace with
These thoughts I wake up and sleep with
Take a deep breath, step back from the deep end
I wanna sleep in but there's more to my story
A man gets lost in greed and caught in his glory
Makes you reflect like who really gives a shit?
And mistakes on your conscience that you're living with
When you're gone, will your boys scheme on your wife?
Better yet, when you were here, did you treat her right?
I'ma see the light, my time will surely come
At the bar, out my mind, head down, pour the rum
I lose another day, just wish my son would stay
Wish we were kids again and we could go and run and play
Yeah, and what about the pets I've lost?
Are my dogs out in Heaven and we're destined to cross?
Are we destined for stars or do some not get in?
Tough to see that light when that sunset's hidden
I was broke at my lowest point, found some lessons
Heard my pops in my ear saying count your blessings
I wonder what they'll say about the music that I've left
For me it's therapy, I use it for the stress
When I die I'll go to Heaven
At least I hope that's where I'll go
I know that I was far from perfect
Am I a good man? I don't know
What will they say about me?
I contemplate if I'm held back for my sins
I'm a new man now, not hellbent on revenge
A wolf in sheep's clothes tells me we are friends
Tries to change the optics and sell me a different lens
But the path I've left, it can't be changed
This life is beautiful if you withstand the pain
I got a palette, a brush and a can of paint
I wrote for struggling artists and those who can relate
I tried my hand in fate but working got results
Put my phone down from scrolling, searching on the couch
So much time wasted peeping others' lives
When we should be grateful to breathe another night
I wonder when I'm gone if they'll sing my song
If you're stressed out and my words will bring you calm
Yeah, and all my friends get to go
Or just a certain few, sorry if I burden you
I can feel the hurt in you 'cause inside I'm hurting too
Pain teaches lessons, along the way I learned a few
Yeah, all this money that we burning through
Yet we focus on issues that ain't concerning you
I just wanna know what happens next
I haven't slept much lately or had some rest
I wonder what they'll say about the music that I've left
For me it's therapy, I use it for the stress
When I die I'll go to Heaven
At least I hope that's where I'll go
I know that I was far from perfect
Am I a good man? I don't know
What will they say about me?
