Father Figure

I know its gotta be more out there... Somebody out there... Andybody out there... Help... Well I grew up without knowing how I can tie a tie Birthdays empty promises and full of lies When I hit puberty I swore that i was gonna die Singing was the only thing I knew to do my whole life Momma's there but she so busy 4 kids, no spouse, gotta keep the lights on, no sympathy In a uncle's house naked bodies on the tv screen Grown thoughts in a little me Fast forward past the bad part Uncle Sam bounce my head off the asphalt Big sis might as well had a passport She got shipped away from the Fam as a last resort The last report is me About 14 Black boy Statically in a court scene And of course things should've been downhill from here Been now I'm saved I really coulda been anywhere And lord knows We all needed father figures Lord knows No worries the father with ya He'll be right there at the right time Life will put you in the right mind We came we saw we conquered and I'm sure that We're right where the father figured Yeah it was kinda nice Momentarily living out in the Cali life Me and Cagjie were crazy and bold enough to find a better plan Find a nice spot to take flight We were kicking it hard with real superstars Mansion in the Hamptons pulling up in the nice cars Still getting mad... If you ain't make it in that city then you end up getting stuck singing by the trash Pimping your talent on the street just to try to eat Always working on the pier never hit the beach Wish I had somebody ear to try to make peace Wish I had mans helping build real pieces And then along came uncle Johnny He said no matter where you going you can be somebody Just gotta plan don't be listening to everybody And that day it really could've been anybody And lord know We all needed father figures Lord knows No worry the father with ya He'll be right there at the right time Life will put you in the right mind We came we saw and we conquered and I'm sure that We're right where the father figured Lord knows I been unprotected way too many times to be this healthy Lord knows I been living life so selfishly I shouldn't be this happy Lord know Only grace and mercy, love and peace And hate is not inside his genes and I can never pay the fee of what's he's done for me except to let him be my Father figure
