Στίχοι

When I was a kid, I'd run through the leaves With rips in my jeans and short sleeves
The chill in the air would blow through my hair And feel fine at fifty degrees
Michigan snowfall in December had been all I knew my growing up years
The cold was a friend that would call on the wind And watch for my breath to appear
In Tennessee where the branches on trees Don't crack as they learn how to freeze
The heat in July makes my northern blood sigh But each summer it thins within me
When I return north, my skin starts to dry And my family makes fun when I shiver
I remember the seasons here in my mind But my body forgets there is winter
The dawn has arrived every day my whole life But the sun sets at various times
Now there's length to the dark and limits on light And I feel it but just can't describe
I've longed for the cool air but it doesn't seem fair it comes with a sad-hearted friend
So we live in the gold light of dusk and we hold tight as solstice prepares to begin
Right at three-thirty the sun's in a hurry to leave for her longest adventure
Always surprised at the shift in the skies every year I forget there is winter
The warmth of the summer evokes all the wonder I carry down deep in my soul
Barefoot on pine floors and slamming of screen doors is the wild and free place I go
So when months have gone by where it snows in my mind will the waters be frozen for good?
Will you yet again let the warm air blow in and awaken new life in these woods?
You gave us the seasons for plenty of reasons When the frost slips away I'll remember
That nothing was lost but all has found rest I forgot that I needed the winter
You gave us the seasons for plenty of reasons When the frost slips away I'll remember
You can't resurrect what's never been dead Praise God how we needed the winter
You can't resurrect what's never been dead Praise God how we needed the winter
