Raised in the woods by a hawk

When he wandered from the pond

Fighting for his worms in the nest

Where his beak was not as strong...as the others

And they laughed at him

When he tried to fly

Leaping by the brook

When the birds had flown away one day

Taken by the boy

Unaware to the house of his dismay

And they laughed at him

But all the while he smiled

Where he lived in a jar for days on end

Fed from a fake stone bowl

Beneath his jungle-gym
