That Mexican OT and Sauce Walka come from different parts of the eastern side of Texas. The groove is slow and melted, the flows stuck in molasses. For anyone looking for an introduction to what rap in Texas is all about, this is more than adequate. They even honor Port Arthur greats UGK—one of the best rap groups ever, regardless of hometown—on “Ugk.” The way both rappers effortlessly interpolate the sounds of their home state while adding their unique twists makes them great students, sure, but visionaries too.
