About John-Scott Horton
Artist Biography
In the artist’s words:
Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. When I was a wee lad, my older sister thew herself on my bed one day and said, "Pour some sugar on me." I was confused. It made the world feel weird and uncomfortable. But eventually I realized she wanted to listen to my Def Leppard cassette single.
What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Gorillaz, Plastic Beach Deluxe Version The Rolling Stones, Exile On Main Street U2, The Joshua Tree (30th Anniversary Super Deluxe Edition) 2017 Remaster Each of these albums is perfectly balanced to me. They have that rare quality where once I finish, I simply hit repeat and listen to the entire album again. There are other albums that demand consecutive, repeat listens, but not many. These are my 3.
Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “I Wonder Sometimes” This song represents the first step in my journey as a professional musician. My collaboration with David Duarte produced something I'm really proud of and feels like a major stepping stone for me.
What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? Playing the Austin Rodeo. Our band at the time did not get into SXSW and we were bummed, but a friend hooked us up with a consolation prize: a nighttime slot at the rodeo. It was packed! It was sunset, people were feeling right and they loved our set
Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? All of it! I'm just getting started here. But playing a sold out show at Stubb's in my second home of Austin, Texas, is a must do.
