Rennó has had his songs recorded by Gilberto Gil, Rita Lee, Tom Zé, Gal Costa, Ney Matogrosso, Tetê Espíndola, and Vânia Bastos. In 1982, Eliete Negreiros interpreted his song "Outros Sons" (written with Arrigo Barnabé) at the MPB Shell Festival, for the Globo networks. In 1985, he won the Festival dos Festivais (Globo Networks) with "Escrito nas Estrelas" (with Arnaldo Black), performed by Tetê Espíndola. In 1991, he launched the book Cole Porter: Canções, Versões, with the participation of Augusto de Campos and Caetano Veloso. The project consisted in rigorous versions of Cole Porter's songs in Brazilian Portuguese. From 1993 to 1995, Rennó coordinated the music section of the Museu da Imagem e do Som de São Paulo (Image and Sound Museum of São Paulo), where he promoted two events: Sempre Novas (classics of Brazilian popular music as seen by contemporary artists) and Encontros Com o Século 20 (devoted to contemporary classical works). In 1996, he organized the book Gilberto Gil: Todas as Letras, where Gil comments on his lyrics with the participation of José Miguel Wisnik and Arnaldo Antunes. In 2000, his 1991 project about Cole Porter was expanded, including works by George Gershwin, and also had the companion CD Cole Porter, George Gershwin: Canções e Versões launched by Gilberto Gil's label Geléia Geral. The songs by the two American composers were performed by Caetano Veloso, Gilberto Gil, Tom Zé, Chico Buarque, Elza Soares, Rita Lee, Cássia Eller, Zélia Duncan, and Ed Motta, among others. ~ Alvaro Neder
