Artist Biography
In the artist’s words:
Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. Opening for one of Jamaica's biggest reggae icon, Sizzla Kalonji at the One Voice Concert held in Trinidad. That was my first stage appearance performing in front of a large crowd alongside my brother Abba Shanty, who is a reggae artist himself.
What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Eminem, The Marshall Mathers LP Lauryn Hill, The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill Sizzla, Blaze Up the Chalwa These particular artists are some of the artists that literally inspired the versitile side of Jalifa. There is a side to Jalifa many don't know but, I am an artist of many genres. I do dancehall , Hip hop, R&B I produce it all.
Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “Hear Ye” Hear Ye is the first track of my Incient Ras EP produced by some of the best dub practitioners there is. I cherish this song because one, it's about who I see as my God and King, and secondly, because it's my father's favorite track on the EP.
What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? Performing Live in Negril Jamaica at the 12th Annual Stepping High Festival. That is definitely one of my most memorable moments. The people of Jamaica were immensely embracing my music till some were saying I'm one of theirs and not Trinidad's lol.
Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? One of the things on my bucket list is to work on an album, which is currently in the making. A lot of my fans are asking for an album, and tour dates lol. As long as God permits the sun to rise another day I Jalifa will not cease to deliver.
