Anthrax founder Scott Ian became obsessed with heavy metal after hearing Kissâ âRock and Roll All Niteâ playing in his parentsâ station wagon.
â Their debut single, the underground hit âSoldiers of Metal,â was recorded with Manowar guitarist Ross âThe Bossâ Friedman.
â The term âthrash metalâ originated in a review of the Anthrax track âMetal Thrashing Mad.â
â In 1987, Anthrax released their breakthrough LP, Among the Living, their first of four consecutive Gold albums.
â Their single âIâm the Manâ is one of the first rap-metal songs, featuring samples of Beastie Boys, Run-DMC, and Metallica.
