Artist Biography
Renowned for his skills as both a jazz bass player and a composer, Barry Guy effortlessly bridges the divide between composed music and improv. He was a member of the Howard Riley trio in the late 1960s, and also spent some time with John Stevens’s Spontaneous Music Ensemble. He was a founding member of the Musicians’ Co-Operative, for which he composed ODE for a 21-piece orchestra. He is as much in demand for classical and contemporary orchestral work as for jazz gigs, and has worked with the BBC Symphony Orchestra, the London Sinfonietta, and the Monteverdi Orchestra, among others.
